Best Gaming Collector’s Editions of 2018

10. Valkyria Chronicles 4 Memoirs From Battle Premium Edition

Valkyria Chronicles has a small yet dedicated fanbase in North America, and luckily those players were given the opportunity to pick up a pretty nice collector’s edition earlier this year. The highlights of this edition are the gorgeous tank statue included as well as the 100-page art book modeled after Claude Wallace’s in-game journal.

In addition, players got a controller skin and in-game content featuring characters from the original Valkyria Chronicles. Overall, even though it may lack some of the physical pack-ins of other games, this is a compact collector’s box that is a charming love letter to the series.

9. Soul Calibur VI Collector’s Edition

A tales of swords and souls eternally retold means another Soul Calibur collector’s edition for this iteration of the series. This box gets you a 12 inch tall Sophitia figurine, a steelbook, soundtrack, and massive 120-page artbook.

Though this collector’s edition is a little on the bare side compared to some of the flashier releases from this year, it still offers plenty for Soul Calibur fans to appreciate. The soundtrack and the artbook are the real highlights here, as the music and concept art for the series has always been stellar, but the statue is pretty nice as well.

8. Persona Dancing Endless Night Collection

This collector’s edition doesn’t really contain many of the extra physical content players are accustomed to such as a soundtrack or figurine. However, it made our list because it features both Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight and Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight with exclusive packaging alongside a downloadable copy of Persona 4: Dancing All Night.

Atlus has also announced that as of now this is the ONLY way to get Persona 4: Dancing All Night on the Playstation 4, adding even more value to this edition for Persona fans. That’s three games for the price tag of $100, which isn’t too shabby, especially if you are a fan of the Persona soundtracks – and you’re really missing out if you haven’t listened to some of the remixes yet.

7. Spider-Man Collector’s Edition

Like most collector’s editions, this Spider-Man one came with a nice steelbook, statue, and artbook. Alongside those physical goodies, it also included the ‘City That Never Sleeps’ season pass, giving players access to three future DLCs for the game which have been pretty good so far.

The statue itself is pretty awesome, mixing in a number of nods to Spidey’s iconic villains, and the steelbook has the new spider symbol from the game on it, making it a nice break from some of the busier designs out there. Though this may not have been the most unique collector’s edition released this year, it’s no doubt something that every Spider-Man fan should have picked up.

6. Octopath Traveler Wayfarer’s Edition

Octopath Traveler was one of the best Switch games released this year, and it’s collector’s edition was just as quirky as the game itself. This edition came with a world map, soundtrack, gold coin, and pop-up book.

The pop-up book is what makes this edition truly unique. Though more of a diorama and less of an actual book in anything but design, this collectible is gorgeous and features all eight characters from the game. Any fan of Octopath Traveler and it’s throwback RPG design will love this beautiful collectible, so I hope you got one while it was available!

5. God of War Collector’s Edition

Ever wanted a gruff muscular old man and his son posed up in your display cabinet? Well with this God of War collector’s edition, you can!

All joking aside, the God of War collector’s edition is pretty awesome, featuring the titular character and his boy in a heroic stance and ready for a fight. The edition also included a gorgeous steelbook, cloth map, digital content including an art book, a lithograph, and two carvings of the dwarven brothers from the game, which is a nice touch.

Overall, this is a pretty epic collector’s edition and one that any god-slaying fan was hopefully able to partake in.

4. Ni No Kuni II Collector’s Edition

An adorable game deserves an adorable collector’s edition, and Ni No Kuni II doesn’t disappoint. This edition not only featured a gorgeous artbook, making-of Blu-Ray, and steelbook case, but it also included a Lofty plush and a mechanical rotating diorama that looks absolutely delightful.

Easily one of the most jam-packed editions of the year, players also received the season pass and a few in-game DLC items as well. On top of all of that, this edition came with a papercraft kit and its own display case, giving you all the physical Ni No Kuni goodies you could ever hope for.

3. Fallout 76 Power Armor Edition

While this collector’s edition may be the center of yet another Bethesda controversy, it was still one of the best collector’s editions of 2018 and sold out well before the game itself launched. This bulky box includes an iconic power armor helmet featuring a built-in voice changer and lights and a (disappointedly nylon) bag to carry it around in as well.

In addition, players also got the Tricentennial edition of Fallout 76, a map of the game’s world of Appalachia, and some miniature figurines, which are really just the cherry on top of this sweet treat for Fallout fans. Despite the lackluster response around the game itself, this is easily the most ambitious collector’s edition Bethesda has ever attempted.

2. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Pantheon Edition

Another year, another Ubisoft collector’s edition featuring a badass assassin. However, Ubisoft upped their game this year by offering the Pantheon Edition, which includes a treasure trove of collectibles, including a statue of main character Alexios about to bring the pain down on an enemy soldier.

Coming in at $220, this edition also included a soundtrack, lithograph, steelbook, artbook, and of course a bunch of bonus DLC. Considering everything that Ubisoft packed into this box (and the fact that the game is actually pretty great), it was definitely worth picking up for Assassin’s Creed fans.

1. Darksiders III Apocalypse Edition

If you are a huge Darksiders fan and have an extra $400 sitting around and don’t know how to spend it, then this is the collector’s edition for you. This edition has a statue of not only Fury from Darksiders III, but also War and Death from the previous titles, as well as Vulgrim, the Mark Hamill voiced nuisance.

You also nab a sweet artbook, soundtrack, steelbook, poster, and Darksiders amulet to top it all off. This is a fan’s dream come true, and even if Darksiders III has been met with middling reception, those statues are still going to look badass on your shelf until the end of days.

2018 had a bevy of collector’s edition, so our list was pretty difficult to narrow down. Were there any that we missed that should have made the list? What were your favorite collector’s editions released this year? Let us know in the comments below!
