How to Get Screws in Fallout 76
One of Fallout 76’s key gameplay features is crafting, which you’ll need to take advantage of to survive in the wasteland of West Virginia. Raiding all the junk you can find scattered around the wastes is a necessity if you hope to accumulate a comfortable campsite and upgrade your gear.
To that end, scrap is one of the most common resources, and knowing how to get specific components is an important piece of knowledge any survivor should have. Luckily, we’ve got you covered with this guide on how to get screws in Fallout 76.
Uses for Screws
Just like in Fallout 4, screws are an important resource for crafting weapons and armor mods at workbenches in Fallout 76. Some mechanical items and other structures you build at your CAMP also require screws, so it can be easy to run out of them if you aren’t careful.
How to Get Screws
You can find screws by breaking down certain junk into scrap which can be done at workstations. These pieces of junk can give you screws:
- Desk Fans
- Globes
- Handcuffs
- Hot plates
- Toy cars
- Typewriters
These items can be found randomly during your journey through the wasteland, either stored in containers or laying about. If you are having trouble finding them, you can try and trade with vendors or other players to try and get them as well. You can see our guide to trading in Fallout 76 here.
Some of these items, like the Hot Plate and Desk Fan, can be pretty heavy. To get around this, scrap your junk as often as you can, as the scrap components can end up weighing less than the complete item.
Perk cards like Pack Rat and Scrapper can also help you with scrap in various ways. You can check out our complete list of perk cards here for more details.
That’s all there is to it for getting screws in Fallout 76. These pieces of scrap can be incredibly valuable if you love modding your weapons and armor, so make sure to keep an eye out for junk during your travels.
