How to Get Aluminum in Fallout 76
Fallout 4 put a large emphasis on scavenging the wasteland for items that could be broken down into crafting materials. From wood, springs, and steel, to aluminum, circuitry, and concrete. Fallout 76 retains that focus, tasking players with building a CAMP. Aluminum, however, is an important crafting material in Fallout 76 for repairing weapons and crafting new ones. Here’s how to get aluminum in Fallout 76.
You’re rarely going to come across an item that’s obviously got aluminum in it in Fallout 76. For the most part, it’s about knowing what random junk items contain this lightweight metal, picking them up, and then breaking them down at either a Weapons, Armor, or Tinker workbench.
We’ve listed a number of items down below that you should look out for to get this handy crafting resource in Fallout 76.
Items Containing Aluminum in Fallout 76
- Aluminum can
- Alarm clocks
- Coolant caps
- Hubcaps
- Industrial Oil Canister
- Sensors
- Spanner
- Surgical Tray
- Toy Rocketships
- Trays
- Wind chimes
It’s worth noting, however, that the amount of the material you get from these items in Fallout 76 varies. Some will grant you two, while others just one. If you’re struggling to find these items, look out for medical facilities such as hospitals, asylums, or medical wings of military buildings. These tend to have a bunch of surgical trays and TV dinner trays, which can be broken down at the workbenches as previously mentioned.
However, it’s worth noting that there’s an even easier way to get a ton of aluminum quickly in Fallout 76.
This involves looking out for the workshops that are littered around the world. Workshops often have rich sources of specific crafting materials, one of which just so happens to be aluminum. The Charleston Landfill and Tyler County dirt track are great for this lightweight metal. The racetrack can be found west of Vault 76 and is pretty easy to reach on your own.
You’ll need to first claim the workshop, and then build a processor on top of the source of the crafting material. Any workshops you come across that are also deemed rich sources of aluminum or other crafting materials you can do the same at, too.
Using this method can fetch you upwards of 100 aluminum with relative ease, as long as no other players try and steal the workshop off you, and you’re able to fend off the waves of enemies that Fallout 76 throws your way.
Finally, keep an eye out for the Fertile Soil event that’ll appear every now and then in Fallout 76. This will task you with taking down a lot of Mr. Handy’s, and once destroyed, they often have this light metal on them that you can loot and break down at your workbenches.
