Is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Coming to the Nintendo Wii U?
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has already surpassed every other Smash game before it in terms of sheer content. Ultimate has over 70 characters so far and is also bringing back every stage, item, and assist trophy that’s ever been seen in the series. Nintendo hasn’t even finished announcing all of the new characters that are going to end up in the game and it’s all just very insane thinking about how massive this sequel is going to turn out to be. The last Smash Bros. game for Wii and 3DS ended up releasing on both systems, so if you were wondering if Super Smash Bros. Ultimate would be coming to the Wii U as well as the Nintendo Switch, then we have some unfortunate news for you.
As of now, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will not be coming to the Nintendo Wii U or the Nintendo 3DS. Ultimate seems to have been developed from the ground up for Nintendo’s new hybrid console and there has not been any word on a release on a different console. With the Switch online subscription-based service launching late next month, requiring players to pay in order to access online multiplayer content, there’s probably a low chance that Nintendo would let people play online for free on the Wii U if players are paying on the Nintendo Switch, it wouldn’t make any sense.
