We Happy Few
Best PS4 Games to Have on Your Radar in August 2018
We Happy Few has undergone some big changes since it released in Early Access in 2016 on Xbox One and PC. The dystopic world definitely draws a few similarities to BioShock, as does the overall creepy atmosphere and first-person point of view. The game takes place in an alternate timeline after World War II, where Germany establishes itself as second German Empire and successfully invades Great Britain.
You play as three different characters living on the island of Wellington Wells, where a hallucinogenic drug known as Joy is used to suppress everyone’s bad memories and keep them in a state of euphoria. Early Access showed some interesting ideas in terms of survival gameplay and roguelike elements, scavenging for tools, weapons, food, and water, all of which are necessary to your survival. The most recent trailers for the game, however, have started showing off some of the more interesting narrative bits. We Happy Few certainly nails its look and tone, and hopefully it’ll be able to deliver on all other fronts as well.
