Is There a Fortnite TV Show?

Recommended Videos

The immense popularity of Epic Games’ battle royale game, Fortnite, has catapulted its name across virtually every facet of pop-culture. It’s a game that continues to make the headlines for one reason or another, and literally any news bulletin —or rumor, as the case may be— seems to make the rounds in lightning speed. The latest of these is that Fortnite Save the World, the PvE tower-defense version of the game, is getting a TV show, produced by Disney XD, and supposedly confirmed via Twitter. So is there really a Fortnite TV show in-bound?

The answer might disappoint you, as it seems that the Twitter profile responsible for spreading the information is actually a parody account. It Tweeted the following message:

Fortnite is being turned into a TV show: Fortnite: The TV Show will premier on August the 12, 2019!

The rumor has spread like wildfire, but that doesn’t make it true. It seems this really was just a hoax that very quickly went viral, owing to the popularity of the franchise.

Now, we’re not suggesting that a Fortnite TV show is off the cards completely in the future. You wouldn’t bet against a production company wanting to capitalize on the interest in the franchise —just think of the number of people who would tune in! Not to mention, there’s probably enough lore and story to string together something potentially interesting if ever was picked up.

So while we certainly aren’t going to see a TV Show in the immediate future, if the franchise continues its remarkable popularity moving forward then there might very well end up being one down the line.
