Is Fallout 76 Coming to Nintendo Switch?

Recommended Videos

Completely out of the blue, Bethesda Studios has teased its upcoming RPG, Fallout 76. So far, we know very little about the game other than that it’s likely to be an online survival experience that takes place in the Fallout universe (though that in itself hasn’t actually been officially confirmed). And given that we’re not entirely sure what Fallout 76 actually is at this point, it’s quite hard to say with any certainty what platforms the game will launch on. Whether Fallout 76 launch on Nintendo Switch isn’t an easy question to answer.

If we were convinced that Fallout 76 was Bethesda Studios next big single-player RPG, we’d be inclined to say that a Switch port would be highly unlikely. That’s because we’re expecting the next full iteration of the series to run in a brand new graphics engine likely incapable of running on Nintendo Switch hardware.

However, if the game is the spin-off survival game we think it might be, it’s a potentially quite different story. It’s likely running in a similar engine to Fallout and Skyrim. Not to mention, it sounds exactly like the sort of game that would suit the Switch, and we already know that Bethesda and Nintendo have a good working relationship, recently having seen Skyrim ported to Switch, as well as both Bethesda published titles such as DOOM and Wolfenstein II.

We’ll keep you posted on any more news about the official list of platforms Fallout 76 is to launch on in the coming weeks. For everything else on the game, be sure to search for Twinfinite.
