How to Get Ability Chunks in Splatoon 2

Recommended Videos

If you really want to get serious about perfecting your gear and ability slots in Splatoon 2, you’re going to need a lot of Ability Chunks. These items can help you reroll certain abilities on your favorite pieces of gear, allowing you to craft a ‘perfect’ piece of equipment that best suits your play style.

Ability Chunks can be obtained through a variety of ways, but the most reliable method of farming I’ve found is simply by scrubbing your unwanted gear by talking to Murch, who’s right next to the online lobby building. You can get a Chunk by scrubbing gear, but you’ll need 10 of them to reroll one ability slot. A decent method of getting Chunks is by scrubbing low-level gear that you can get at low prices, and then investing those Chunks in better clothing.

Ability Chunks can also be obtained as rewards through Salmon Run, but the drop rate is pretty low, and I don’t recommend repeating Salmon Run if you’re hoping to farm them quickly.

More About Splatoon 2

Splatoon 2 is the follow-up to Splatoon, the inky shooter game released on the Wii U two years ago. Take control of a kid, splat your enemies with ink, and transform into a squid whenever you feel like it.
