How Long the Destiny 2 Beta Is and How Many Quests and Activities There Are
The Destiny 2 Beta is finally here and Guardians around the world will be able to see the next step of Bungie’s latest series. As we all gear up and prepare to pick our favorite classes (or in the case of Warlock mains, the best class), one thing to keep in mind is that this is a timed beta and it is quite limited. Think of it as a demo that’s been put in place to not only let you try out some of the new features, but to also test the servers and whatnot so everything can go smoothly come the official console launch.
The Destiny 2 Beta will run for about six six days in total, though how many days you’ll be able to play depends on your platform of choice and whether or not you’ve pre-ordered the upcoming sequel. Those who pre-ordered on PS4 will get to kick things off on July 18 at 10 AM PT/ 1 PM EST. Xbox pre-orders gain access a full 24 hours later. If you didn’t pre-order, you can jump in on July 21 at the same start time and play until the beta’s end. That end date is July 23 at 9 PM PT and July 24 at 12 AM ET. You won’t have free fun of the entire game during this period, though. Below you’ll find what’s actually available to play in terms of quests and activities.
As far as story goes, you’ll gain access to the first mission, Homecoming, which covers the destruction of the Tower and Ghaul’s claiming of the Traveler. There’s also the Inverted Spire Strike to jump into with two other players, to give you a taste of the more dynamic, mini-raid like structure of these group missions. Crucible will offer up Countdown (new to Destiny 2) as well as Control. You’ll be able to play as all six available subclasses, which includes the newly introduced Dawnblade, Arcstrider, and Sentinel.
On the last day of the beta, everyone will be able to check out The Farm, the new social space that players will become very acquainted with when the full game finally releases. You’ll be able to play soccer (sort of) while also dancing with your fellow Guardians like the good ol’ days. Do note that the vast majority of vendors and other NPCs will be offline, so you’ll need to wait for more info on those bits (Bungie is trying to keep a few surprises for the full release). Also, progression is not in the game as well. Meaning you won’t see how your characters will grow stronger in the full version of Destiny 2. This is all just to give you a taste of how it feels to play the game.
