PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE MAJOR STORY SPOILERS AHEAD FOR GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY EPISODE ONE. IF YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE THE EPISODE AS IT WAS INTENDED, WE ADVISE YOU TURN BACK NOW. ALSO, NOTE THAT THIS STORY SUMMARY IS BASED ON THE MAJOR DECISIONS WE MADE DURING THE EPISODE. YOUR EXPERIENCES MAY DIFFER DEPENDING ON THE DECISIONS YOU MAKE.

Guardians of the Galaxy opens up with Star-Lord (Peter Quill) receiving a call from the Nova Corps. Thanos, the evil tyrant, has been tracked down to a planet but the Corps need your help to finally put an end to him. After giving his acceptance, the ship begins to fall apart as the other members of the group join Star-Lord surveying the planet from the window.

With Rocket fixing the ship, Groot also helping but unfortunately catching fire, and Gamora almost being flattened by a pipe, Star-Lord suddenly wonders who’s in control of the ship. Drax the Destroyer is in the driver’s seat and talks about seeking revenge on Thanos for his dead family.

Once the chaos has calmed down a little, the Guardians get into position just in time for a missile to hit the rear of the ship, sending them spinning down towards the planet. The team awakens to find themselves hanging upside down in the now-crashed ship. After ejecting out of their seats, Rocket flips out and goes running after his ‘baby’ which just so happens to be a giant gun three times his size. Once safely reunited with the giant gun, Thanos’ ship can be seen heading towards some ruins. Looks like we know where we’re heading next.

Arriving at the ruin, Drax tries to open a giant door which won’t budge while Rocket suggests blasting it with his gun instead. Unfortunately, it only has one round so you don’t want to waste it on a door when Thanos is waiting further down the line.

After finding a crack in the wall above the door, Star-Lord uses his boosters to slip through and reach the other side. After almost being flattened by some falling debris on the other side, he knocks a control panel, breaking it. There are Nova Corp corpses littered around the room, and a Nova Corp ship in a state of disrepair on a higher level, but fortunately, the turret is still working.

Rocket informs Star-Lord that he needs an ID Chip to gain access to be able to use the turrets to blast the door open. Using the time scanner, Star-Lord is able to see that Thanos threw the body of the most senior officer onto the top level. Once retrieved, Star-Lord blasts the door open for the rest of the team to make their way through. It turns out that this is a Kree military base – a people well-known for their technological prowess, which raises the question as to what Thanos is after. In order to find Thanos, though, you’ll need to descend further into the creepy base. Rocket fixes up the panel you busted before and the group heads down.

Once you’ve taken the lengthy elevator ride down, the group engage Thanos in a huge fight. While Thanos manages to down all of the Guardians, fortunately, Star-Lord manages to reach Raccoon’s now fixed mega weapon and delivers a killing blow to Thanos at the last second.

With Thanos defeated, Star-Lord picks up a glowing green artifact from his hands. With the tyrant defeated, the Guardians head to Knowhere Mining Colony for a few drinks to celebrate.

Guardians of the Galaxy Chapter Three

With the celebrations in full flow, Star-Lord talks with each of the other Guardians (other than Groot, of course). Gamora contemplates whether or not the group will stay together now that Thanos is defeated, meanwhile, Drax simply seeks reassurance that he did, in fact, get revenge for his family after Rocket tells him that it was actually Star-Lord that did the killing. Once you’ve either taken the credit, or reassured Drax he got revenge for his family, Rocket talks about his thoughts of leaving the group and taking a break from all of the chaos and danger.

Gamora also tells Star-Lord of her rivalry with her sister, Nebula, who was also taken in by Thanos. He used to have them fight until they bled to see who was most deserving of being his daughter. Unfortunately, Gamora thinks Nebula is gonna be more than a little angry that she’s just killed her father.

After a few more drinks and a toast with the group, Star-Lord awakens on the floor of the bar. Gamora wakes him, alerting him of a huge problem.

Turns out that the party the Guardians had last night got a bit out of hand and there’s a huge tab to pay at the bar. Fortunately, Rocket comes up with the idea of selling Thanos’ body to pay off the tab to the Collector. Gamora has other thoughts, though, suggesting that the group should give Thanos’ corpse to the Nova Corps so that there’s no trace of the tyrant in the galaxy ever again. Besides, they also had a bounty on his head for quite some time, so you’ll still get paid and you’ll be doing the right thing, too.

Unfortunately, this conflict of ideas leads Gamora and Rocket to flip out and leaves Star-Lord (you) with a major decision to make: side with rocket and sell the body to the Collector for a huge number of units, or take it to the Nova Corps. (We sided with Gamora and decided to call the Nova Corps to come and collect the body).

While waiting for the officers to come and collect the body, Rocket gets on Star-Lord’s back about the decision. However, no matter what you say, he won’t be happy about it.

Guardians of the Galaxy Chapter Five

Guardians of the Galaxy

Star-Lord heads into his room to grab the artifact out of his bag while waiting for the Nova Corps officers. As he looks at a photo on his wall, the artifact glows in his hands and he’s sent back in time, listening to his mixtape in the car with his mom. The two have a conversation about how a bully at school broke Peter’s cassette player and how Peter retaliated with his fists. She manages to fix the player and asks Peter to promise her that he will settle future conflicts with his words and not his fists. And just like that, you’re sent back to the present day.

Gamora will be standing in front of you, snatching the relic out of your hands. It turns out that Star-Lord was out of it for hours, talking to the relic and calling Gamora mom when she awoke you from the trance. Well, at least that passed the time until the officers arrived.

The officers scan the body to verify it’s actually Thanos, however, it turns out that the bounty will be paid in installments within six to 12 months from now. At least you made an alliance, right?

As the group is about to conclude business, Peter’s name is called from behind him. You’re ambushed for the body and a fight breaks out. After falling to the floor from flying after trying to get an enemy off his back, Star-Lord drops the relic and it’s picked up by Hala the Accuser, the leader of this group. Hala picks the relic up and flies off back to their ship in space. You’ll be able to take Gamora or Drax with you to chase them down. (We chose Gamora).

Guardians of the Galaxy Chapter Six

Guardians of the Galaxy

Once the duo has arrived at the ship, Drax informs them it’s a Kree warship and that it and its inhabitants shouldn’t even exist as they were supposed to have been wiped out years ago. Entering the ship, the duo discovers a computer with photos and information on it and are able to find a way through to the bridge where Hala must be waiting for them.

Upon making your way inside the room, Hala sends her blade through the air and puts it to Gamora’s throat. She explains that the artifact has far more power than you know, and that she won’t lose her son again. She plans to sacrifice billions of people across the galaxy to bring the Kree back once more. Unfortunately for Star-Lord, he’s her first sacrifice. She sends her blade into his chest and Gamora charges to attack her. It doesn’t take long before Gamora is down and out, too, but fortunately, just as Hala goes to finish Star-Lord off, Rocket blasts the room with missiles from the ship, sending the artifact flying through the air.

Star-Lord and Gamora make their escape back to the ship, but Star-Lord slips out of consciousness. Here, we get another flashback as Peter sits in an empty church at his mother’s funeral. Yondu appears behind you and tells you that this isn’t what your mom would want. She roped him into taking care of Peter if anything happened to her, and he’ll ask you to come with him.

As the pair left the church, adult Peter finds himself back in the church, with a banging noise coming from his mom’s coffin. As he walks towards it and opens the lid, his mom appears behind him. She says she’s there to help you and that he’s dead but he has nothing to fear. As she places her hand on Peter’s wound, a green glow emanates from your chest and you’re brought back to life in the present day on the ship.

It was a pretty action-packed first episode to Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Did you enjoy the premiere? Let us know down in the comments below.
