Pokemon Sun and Moon: How to Get Ditto

Pokemon Sun and Moon – Catching Ditto

Recommended Videos

Ditto is one of the most sought-after creatures in the series, not because of its fighting prowess, but because of its usefulness in breeding. With a Ditto, you’ll be able to hatch eggs for all the Pokemon in the game, and it doesn’t matter if they’re male, female, or genderless.

Ditto isn’t very common, but your best chance of finding it is by heading up to Mount Hokulani on the third island. From here, go down the winding road and look out for the grass patches on the side of the road. This is where you’ll find Ditto. The encounter rate isn’t very high, so keep at it until you eventually come across one. When you do find it, the Pokemon will use its Transform power to mimic whichever Pokemon you have out at the moment. This means that you can exploit its weakness easily, or use the same Type moves to deal less damage to it.

The catch rate for this pocket monster isn’t very high, so I recommend using a Quick Ball on your first turn. If that doesn’t work, feel free to weaken it before throwing out regular Poke Balls.
