Players of Payday 2: Crimewave Edition on Xbox One have been dealing with significant issues since the game launched. Despite several patches, the game’s matchmaking makes it difficult for players to join public games and there have been significant lag issues. Today, Overkill Software released a pair of updates on their process of fixing the game.

On their YouTube channel, producer Almir Listo appeared in a video to address the issues and solutions with the Xbox One version of Payday 2.

In addition to the video, Listo made a lengthy post on the Payday Reddit page that explains the team’s plans for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game.

The matchmaking on Xbox One is the most pressing issue currently, and Overkill are currently planning to fix it by the end of 2015.

We are currently working on a radical change – a full remake of the matchmaking system which will simplify the way you join games and improve the matchmaking. This is a solution that is built from the ground up, as the previous matchmaking system we have for PS4 and PC doesn’t work well with your platform. Right now this is our number one priority.

The post also promises more frequent communication with console players, which will probably mean weekly or bi-weekly updates from the developers.

Finally, the post hints at the first content update for Payday 2: Crimewave Edition. The PC version of the game has a massive amount of downloadable content, and console owners are still waiting to see what they’ll get in a future update. Overkill Software can’t put the entire DLC suite onto consoles at once, but are currently figuring out how much content they can release at once for console players.

The PC version of Payday 2 will likely remain the definitive version, but are you willing to try the console versions after the fixes and DLC additions? Let us know in the comments.
