Earlier in the week, Call of Duty fans were treated to an incredible reveal of a brand new Zombies Mode Map with the “Shadows of Evil” trailer. The Black Ops III Zombies trailer reveals new map set within a 1940s pulp and noir setting complete with Tommy guns, gumball perk machines, big band jazz and swing music, and zombies rocking zoot suits and fedoras. To up the ante, the trailer reveals that at one point during the map, you will face against a horrific Lovecraftian eldritch horror. While blasting your way to survival, you play as one of four characters as portrayed by Jeff Goldblum, Heather Graham, Neal McDonough, and Ron Perlman.
There is no one more worthy and badass than Ron Perlman to join the ranks of famous celebrities that previously appeared in Call of Duty’s Zombies Mode. In the trailer, we see a younger version of Perlman rendered as a rough-and-tough boxer. Additional footage shows Perlman punching out dirty zombies in the mouth with a pair of brass knuckles. Perhaps these brass knuckles will serve as part of his character’s standard melee attacks?
In an interview with IGN, shortly after the reveal, Ron Perlman sat down to talk more about this role in the upcoming Black Ops III Zombies map “Shadows of Evil.”
Perlman discusses how he had always wanted to take up a boxing character within his acting career, and is excited to have the opportunity to do so in Black Ops III. As teased by the dialogue of the trailer where Perlman’s character says “I think this is happening because we’re bad people”, his boxer is undoubtedly someone who has seen his share of trouble. Perlman states that his character discovers the hidden system that holds the world of boxing by a set of strings. In attempts to work the system in his favor, Perlman’s character gets caught up in a shady world with even shadier people. Like the allies he fights off zombies with, he is a man way over his head.
While no other information about the other characters and Perlman’s relationship to them has been revealed yet, Perlman states that the response to the announcement on social media has been positive & encourages fans to stay vigilant for more news.
