With the release of the much anticipated Mortal Kombat X this past Tuesday, players all over the world have been busy checking out the story mode, challenge towers, and the online faction play in this latest instalment. As the first Mortal Kombat game on the current generation of consoles, expectations for the game’s graphical capabilities have run pretty high as well. After spending some time with the game myself, I’m pleased to report that Mortal Kombat X looks absolutely gorgeous on the PS4, and no expense has been spared in bringing us every little gory detail.

We’ve taken the liberty of capturing a number of screenshots for your perusal, just in case you’re still on the fence about getting this game. The screenshots were all taken from the tower challenges, including Klassic mode. None of the images below were taken from the game’s story mode, so there’s no worry of being spoiled. The screenshots showcase some of the Fatalities from characters such as newcomer Takeda, as well as series veterans Kano, Mileena, Reptile, and Sub-Zero. The character art featured during the game’s loading screens look stunning in 1080p as well.

The screenshots taken also show off a brief look at some of the Faction Kills you can unlock in the Lin Kuei clan. The first Faction Kill from the clan, for instance, features Smoke beheading your enemy.

Overall, Mortal Kombat X looks pretty damn good on the PS4. If you’re a fan of the series, or even just fighting games in general, this is a game you’ll definitely not want to miss. You can check out our review of the game here.
