Plenty of developers are starting to take the leap into free-to-play titles right now, possibly due to the stigma of being one fading away. Perhaps the best known example of this shift came last week when the announcement came that Fable Legends would be a free-to-play game supported by microtransactions. On 3DS systems around the world though, a new Pokemon free-to-play title has been making the rounds in Pokemon Shuffle. The game just hit 1 million downloads and Nintendo celebrated by giving everyone a free item.

The game is still available to download for free, although according to many all over the internet you’re going to have to pony up some dollars to keep playing.

Pokemon Shuffle allows you five free plays per day, with more being available through the exchange of hearts which are purchased with real world cash money. That’s where you get the Complexity -1 item from, buy coins with real money.
