After the media and entertainment outlet was rumored to close less than two weeks ago, a portion of Joystiq has announced today that the site will continue to live on through a newly found partnership with Engadget.com. Temporarily being called, Joystiq X Engadget, the site will specifically focus on gaming coverage.

“We are the continuation of Joystiq — its new beginning — if not in name, certainly in spirit and drive,” said senior editor Ben Gilbert in the announcement post of Joystiq X Engadget. Gilbert is joined by former Joystiq senior reporter Jess Conditt, to help grow their channel.

“We are not in the business of providing press release regurgitation, trailer-based marketing for big-budget games or previews based on carefully scripted PR events,” said Gilbert, “the goal at Joystiq X Engadget is to cover the intersection of life and games.”
