What Tea Did Alicent Give to Dyana in House of the Dragon? Answered

A guide that explains what tea Alicent gave to Dyana in House of the Dragon.

Episode 8 of House of the Dragon was incredibly exciting, an intense mix of political intrigue, character development, and a bit of blood. One of the minor plot points involves Prince Aegon, son of King Viserys, and a servant girl. It resulted in Alicent given the poor girl a special tea. The question is: what tea did Alicent give Dyana in House of the Dragon?

What Tea Did Alicent Give to Dyana in House of the Dragon?

In House of the Dragon, Queen Alicent gave Dyana moon tea that is meant to cause a miscarriage or, at the very least, prevents pregnancy.

Shortly before Dyana was given the tea to drink, Prince Aegon II—Queen Alicent’s son—assaulted Dyana. Queen Alicent gave it to Dyana personally in order to prevent Dyana from giving birth to any bastards.

This wasn’t the first time we’ve seen this particular tea has been used in House of the Dragon. In Episode 4, Rhaenyra Targaryen was given the same tea by her father to rid her of “any unwanted consequences.” As for Dyana’s whereabouts, that remains to be seen if it’s ever addressed at all. Alicent’s words were a veiled threat: take the money and leave or else.

There you have it: the purpose of the tea Alicent gave to Dyana in House of the Dragon. If you need more questions answered about House of the Dragon, catch up on who Aegon’s wife is in the show or why Viserys said “my love” at the end of episode 8.
