The security system called “Battle.net SMS Protect” protects your account by removing damaged/lost Authenticators and recovering your account name. In addition, users can turn on mobile device text alerts to receive messages of any unusual account activity and help reduce disruptive behavior within the community.

There are certain games on Battle.net that require you to enter your phone number to play, including Overwatch 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. However, keep in mind that there are some restrictions for some players that have pre-paid network providers or VOIP numbers. For instance, messaging apps like iMessage or WhatsApp cannot be used with SMS Protect and will prohibit users from playing these games.
