The best way to level up a unit quickly is to just throw them into combat, but here are a few tips to help speed up the process a little:
- In between battles, head back to the Encampment and speak with Hossabara to take part in mental mock battles.
These are all optional fights that unlock as you progress through the story, and it’s recommended that you do them as they can reward you with more money and resources. More battles also means more chances for your units to gain experience.
- During a fight, make sure everyone gets to make a move.
Your units don’t just get experience from fighting; they’ll also be rewarded for using skills such as buffs, debuffs, and healing. Even if a unit doesn’t necessarily need to buff anyone at the time, there’s no harm in having them do so just so they can get some experience points.
- Using items will also reward you with experience points.
Items cost money, and money is hard to come by, so this method isn’t recommended. However, it’s worth noting that using items will give you experience too, so if you’re really desperate to level a unit up, it’s good to keep this in mind.
Essentially, when doing your mental mock battles, you’ll want them to last as long as possible so that your units can take more turns and rake in more experience. The more moves that they make, the more experience they get, allowing them to level up much faster to learn more skills.
