What Rune Arcs Are

Rune Arcs are a pretty important item that you’ll need in Elden Ring if you want to make full use of the Great Runes you get from bosses.

It grants the blessing of an equipped Great Rune upon use, or if there’s no equipped Great Rune, an Elden Ring Rune Arc will slightly increase your HP permanently.

They can be found as item pickups in the open-world or bought from NPCs, but they’re pretty rare and limited, which might make you hesitant to actually use them. Thankfully, there is a way to farm them effectively.

Farming Rune Arcs in Elden Ring

  1. Using either the Tarnished Furled Finger or the Golden Effigy, you can leave your summon sign on the ground for other players to see.

Leaving your summon sign right outside a boss arena will be the most effective, as players are more likely to summon help for boss encounters than simply exploring a dungeon.

  2. Once summoned, you’ll be tasked with helping the Host defeat the area boss.

Do note that your Sacred Flask count will be halved as a summoned cooperator. You’ll need to be a lot more careful when fighting.

  3. Upon defeating the area boss, you’ll be rewarded with Runes and an Elden Ring Rune Arc, and be sent back to your own world.

Using this method, you’re basically able to farm as many Rune Arcs as you want or need, assuming that you’re successful in helping the Host defeat their boss. This is a great way to get your Rune Arcs, especially since your Great Rune effect will go away after a single death, requiring you to activate it again with another Arc.

That’s all you need to know about how to farm Rune Arcs in Elden Ring. Be sure to check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
