To celebrate Bungie’s 30th anniversary, the developer is holding an event in Destiny 2, bringing a whole host of new cosmetics and weapons to the Tower and its Guardians. A number of the weapons are taken right out of Bungie’s former arena shooter IP, Halo, before it was sold to Microsoft and the reigns taken by 343 Industries. In this guide, we’ll be talking you through how to get the Retraced Path legendary trace rifle in Destiny 2, so you can add this slick-looking weapon to your collection.
Retraced Path, as noted above is a legendary trace rifle, and is clearly inspired by Halo’s Beam Rifle, often used by the Covenant forces to engage Master Chief from range. It tends to be the Jackals’ weapon of choice, too.
Getting Retraced Path in Destiny 2
To get Retraced Path, you’ll need to open the treasure chest in front of Xur at his new Treasure Hoard location. You can reach Xur at this new location by opening your Director and selecting, Eternity.
As you might have guessed, the treasure chest itself can’t just be opened whenever you want. You’ll have to earn a key to open it.
Getting Treasure Chest Keys for Xur in Destiny 2
To get a key to open Xur’s chest, you’ll need to complete the Dares of Eternity event. This was newly added into the game as part of the 30th anniversary event, and tasks players with taking down waves of enemies and completing challenges to fill a progress bar to summon a final boss.
Once the final boss has defeated, players will be awarded with a treasure chest key which they can then take to Xur at the Treasure Hoard location.
Opening Xur’s Treasure Chest
Now that you’ve got the key, return to Xur and interact with the treasure chest right in front of him. You’ll now be given one of the new 30th anniversary event weapons, but which one you get is entirely random.
As such, you’re not guaranteed to get Retraced Path in Destiny 2 on your first, second or even third attempt. However, the Dares of Eternity event is repeatable and drops one key each time you beat it, so you can just keep grinding it out until the RNG Gods are on your side.
That’s everything you need to know on how to get Retraced Path in Destiny 2. Head on over to our wiki for more tips and tricks on the 30th anniversary event, as well as the latest major expansion.
