Arkane Studios’ latest shooter is mostly a single-player affair, but there is a multiplayer element that certainly adds an interesting layer to the experience. It relates to Julianna and her hunting of Colt as he explores Blackreef on his own assassination missions — sometimes she is controlled by AI, other times she’s actually another player ‘invading’ your game. But can you play with friends in Deathloop or does every Julianna invasion have to be versus a random? Here’s what you need to know.
Can You Play With Friends in Deathloop? Answered
Yes, it is possible to specifically invade one of your friends. There are a few steps you’ll need to take in order to set up the right circumstances, though.
First, anyone who wants to play as Julianna in multiplayer will need to progress past a certain point in the campaign; specifically, the mission called The Longest Day. It should take you roughly an hour or so.
Once you’re past that, you’ll unlock this option in the main menu. It’ll be titled “Protect the Loop,” and will allow you to invade other players’ timelines in order to hunt Colt for rewards.
Now, from here, go to the main menu, select “Protect the Loop,” and play as Julianna. Now select the “Invade Friend’s Timeline” tab on the bottom left. Also, whoever is playing as Colt must also change their setting to Friends Only Mode.
There’s one final caveat: whoever is playing Colt will need to be at one of the following locations/times for the matchmaking to work properly:
Morning – Karl’s Bay
Morning – Fristad Rock
Noon – Updaam
Noon – Fristad Rock
Afternoon – The Complex
Evening – The Complex
Evening – Updaam
If you do not complete this final step you will get an error message that reads “unavailable friends.”
You should now be good to go. Happy hunting!
