Now that the mobile version of Pokemon Unite is available, players on all platforms can enjoy the exact same game together. Cross-play is a reality for the over nine million players who already downloaded the game on the Switch and the more than 7.5 million who pre-registered on iOS and Android.
But cross-progression or cross-save is the major feature from the latest Pokemon Unite update that will give players who sync their data between platforms a reason to try out both options. Just as it sounds, this update will allow players on Switch to carry over their progress to iOS or Android and vice versa. All you need to do is link your account in Pokemon Unite to a Nintendo Account or a Pokemon Trainer Club account.
To do that, first, you’ll need to open up the Settings menu. To get there on Switch, press the ZL button from the main screen where you view your trainer standing next to your favorite Pokemon. You can just tap the player icon in the upper left of the screen on the mobile version. Then scroll down to Settings and select it by pressing A (Switch) or tapping on it (mobile).
Then within the Settings menu, go down to Account Settings. On the Switch version of Pokemon Unite, you’ll have the option to link a Nintendo Account or a Pokemon Trainer Club account. On this same menu in the mobile version, there will be options for linking to Google or Facebook. If you don’t own a Switch and never plan on getting one, then linking to Google or Facebook should be fine.
But if you want to move back and forth between your mobile device and a Switch, then linking to a Nintendo Account or Pokemon Trainer Club account are your only options.
