Getting Iron Ore in New World

Iron ore is one of the most important materials to farm early on in the game, as you’ll need it to craft the basic weapon types. Once you reach the first settlement, you can simply follow the main quest and you’ll eventually be rewarded with a heavy satchel that contains 90 ores.

However, that won’t last very long especially if you want to craft all the weapon types, so you’ll need to know how to farm your own.

First off, you should already have a pickaxe in your inventory from playing through the main quests in New World. With it equipped in your tool slots, head for the forests near the settlement and start looking for large, dark colored rocks. We’ve included a screenshot down below to give you an idea of what they look like.

You’ll also need to get your mining skill up to level 1, which is easily done by mining regular boulders you see along the way. Once you have your skill upgraded, approach an iron vein and hit the E key to start mining. Once you’ve mined everything, the iron ore will get deposited to your inventory automatically, and also give your mining skill a pretty huge experience boost.

You can then head to any smelter in the game, and use the ore to convert them into iron ingots, which are used for crafting.

That’s all you need to know about how to get iron ore in New World. Be sure to check our guide wiki for more tips and information on the game.
