Deathloop: How to Upgrade Weapons

How to Upgrade Weapons

Arkane Studios’ latest game puts a much heavier emphasis on combat than those of the past, and while the actual number of different weapons isn’t all that high, the option to tweak and change them adds a layer of progression to proceedings. Here’s how to upgrade weapons in Deathloop if you haven’t familiarized yourself with Trinkets and Infusing.

In Deathloop, weapons, along with character attributes, are upgraded by Trinkets. These are scattered across all of the different regions of Blackreef Island in fairly limited numbers. You’ll typically find them inside an Eternalist base or in various hidden areas you come across, and almost always after having taken out a Visionary.

After having collected a Trinket, it will automatically be sent back to your Arsenal and you will be given the opportunity to equip it to a weapon the next time you head out to an area. To do so, simply select ‘Infuse Gear,’ then ‘Weapon Trinkets,’ or just select a weapon you have equipped and hit Triangle (as shown above). Of course, you will lose your Trinkets once the day has ended unless you Infuse the Trinket with Residuum you have collected. Read our guide on Infusing items and how Residuum works here if you’re not up to speed with the process.

All weapons can be upgraded in Deathloop, though the higher the tier of weapon the more Trinkets you will be able to attach. Purple and Gold tier weapons offer the highest number of Trinket slots. Similarly, Trinkets have a Quality level, which determines the strength of their effects (colored the same as gun tiers).

Some examples of weapon Trinkets include increased magazine size, reduced recoil, and increased reload speed.
