The distance to the hole, elevation and topography of the ground are all very important factors you’ll need to consider when playing Mario Golf: Super Rush. Here’s how to scan terrain in Mario Golf: Super Rush so you can land the perfect shot.

How to Scan Terrain in Mario Golf: Super Rush

To scan terrain, before you take a shot simply press the R button and you’ll enter ‘Scan mode.’

In Scan mode, you’ll be able to check the terrain ahead of you or on the green to check the elevation and range to the tee. This can be really helpful in figuring out where you want to aim your putt or shot in order to account for any unlevel ground that may cause your ball to change direction when it hits the ground.

For example, if the ground is slanting to the left, you may want to aim your shot to the right of the hole so the ball rolls towards it when it hits the green.

To use the ‘Scan’ function, simply use the left analog stick to move the crosshair, R to enter and exit the mode, A to aim and Y to reset your view.

After aiming in ‘Scan’ you’ll be provided with the distance to the hole below the reticle, the elevation on the right-hand side, and the topography of the ground just beneath the distance, as shown in the screenshot below.
