While some fans would understandably have been disappointed to learn that Capcom’s next Resident Evil game isn’t a proper “next-generation” title, that doesn’t mean it won’t feature some impressive performance features over PS4 and Xbox One versions. Is Resident Evil Village PS5 & Xbox Series X Enhanced? Answered

Thanks to an update from Capcom itself via the game’s official website, we now know that Resident Evil Village will run substantially better on next-generation hardware. Further, that players will actually have some degree of control over the fidelity and level of performance according to their preference.

Resident Evil Village runs at a native 4K resolution and 60 frames per second on both consoles, but there’s also a Ray Tracing option, too. As you can see in the below comparison, the trade-off is that the framerate is reduced to a rather unusual 45 frames per second.

  • PlayStation 5 – 4K HDR at 60 frames per second
  • PlayStation 5 (when Ray Tracing is turned on) – 4K HD at 45 frames per second
  • PlayStation 4 Pro – 1080p at 60 frames per second
  • PlayStation 4 Pro (when set to high resolution) – 4K HDR at 30 frames per second
  • PlayStation 4 – 900p at 45 frames per second
  • Xbox Series X – 4K HDR at 60 frames per second
  • Xbox Series X (when Ray Tracing is turned on) – 4K HD at 45 frames per second
  • Xbox Series S – 1440p HDR at 45 frames per second
  • Xbox Series S (when Ray Tracing is turned on) – 1440p HDR at 30 frames per second
  • Xbox One X – 1080p at 60 frames per second
  • Xbox One X (when set to high resolution) – 4K HDR at 30 frames per second
  • Xbox One – 900p at 30 frames per second
  • Stadia – 1080p at 60 frames per second or 4K at 60 frames per second (note: 4K is upscaled using dynamic resolution)
