Outriders: How to Manually Target & Aim Skills

Outriders is here, and it features intense, challenging, and strategic third-person shooter combat with a story to boot. Think The Division mixed with Destiny, and even a little dash of Mass Effect thrown in for good measure. If you’re here, you’re probably trying to make better use of your class’s skills and abilities and want to know how to manually aim and target your skills in Outriders so they can more accurately land.

How to Manually Aim and Target Skills in Outriders

Outriders features many different types of skills and abilities. Some are just activated and then they passively help your character out. Others are one-time activations that, when you hit them, something cool happens, and that’s it.

Other skills, though, require a bit more finesse, and can be manually targeted and aimed so that you can get the most out of them.

To manually aim and target your skills in Outriders, all you need to do is hold the button for the ability you’re trying to use. Just hold it for a second and then let go. Then, instead of slinging the ability out like you would if you tapped it, you’ll see a reticle and line showing you where you’re aiming and throwing the ability down. Go ahead and press the button prompt to let go and your targeted ability will go out.

This is likely what you’ll want to do most of the time for skills where this applies. The only time you’ll want to just sling something out quickly is if you’re in a rush or in danger, and need to use your skill quickly. Which, to be fair, is kind of a lot of the time in Outriders.

If you’re playing Techomancer for example, you’ll want your turret lined up perfectly so it can get a good line of sight on all your enemies. Otherwise, it might end up tucked behind a wall or something because you couldn’t be bothered, or didn’t have the time, to aim it.

That’s all you need to know about how to manually target skills in Outriders. Hopefully, that helped you out. For more tips, tricks and guides, head over to our wiki, or check out more of our coverage on the game below.
