Nier Replicant is a faithful recreation of the original game through and through, right down to not telling you where crucial items are. One such item is the Royal Compass, which allows you to navigate the portion of the desert afflicted by a sandstorm and reach the Barren Temple. Given you’ll need to enter said Temple to complete a variety of side quests, it’s no wonder you’re looking for tips on how to get the Royal Compass in Nier Replicant.
Well, worry not. We’ve deciphered how this item is obtained and laid out the instructions for obtaining it down below. Do be aware, though, that this guide won’t be of any help unless you’ve already saved the young king of Facade from the Barren Temple as part of the main story. If you haven’t done this yet, progress the main mission line until you do.
How to Get the Royal Compass in Nier Replicant
Getting the Royal Compass in Nier Replicant is fairly easy to pull off so long as you know where to look for it.
After rescuing the young king of Facade, you’ll find yourself attending a celebration in front of the King’s Mansion. Once you regain control of your character, speak to the guard to the right of the Mansion’s entrance. He’ll give you the compass as thanks for rescuing the king, and explain how it’ll allow you to traverse the sandstorm.
The compass will then automatically activate whenever you enter the area of the desert where the sandstorm is active. There won’t be any reticle pointing in a specific direction, but you will be able to move around freely without worry. Likewise, your map will remain active, allowing you to tell whether or not you’re close to the Barren Temple or other points of interest.
