Before you can use Illumina Orbs in New Pokemon Snap, you’ll need to help Professor Mirror with research on the Illumina phenomenon. The orbs can be used to change Pokemon behavior and progress through the game’s story. The Illumina Orb on Maricopia Island is a little bit tricky to find, and you won’t be able to continue onto the next course until you find it. Here’s everything you need to know about how to unlock Maricopia Island’s Illumina Orb in New Pokemon Snap.
How to Unlock Maricopia Island’s Illumina Orb
Before Maricopia Island, you unlocked Illumina Orbs by taking photos of glowing Crystabloom flowers at night. The concept is similar here, but this time, Professor Mirror wants a photo of one on the Lental Seafloor underwater course. There is no night cycle here, so there’s a different way to find it.
In the beginning part of the course, you’ll see a big patch of seaweed on the right side. You may see many fish Pokemon like Finneon swimming around here. Your camera’s scan function will alert you that there may be a Pokemon hiding in the seaweed. Go ahead and use the scan if you want to, and it will point out a sleeping Lumineon near the ground hidden in the seaweed.
Throw a Fluffruit or two at the sleeping Lumineon here. It will wake up, and after a few seconds, it will swim away. The Lumineon was sleeping on a glowing Crystabloom flower, concealing it from view. After the Lumineon swims away, you can snap a photo of it to take back for your research.
If you’re having trouble finding this spot, here is a picture of the location:
ust as you did for the previous Crystabloom photos, make sure you select a photo of it glowing during Professor Mirror’s evaluation just as you would do for a picture of a Pokemon. If you did everything correctly, he’ll be happy with your research and give you Illumina Orbs that can be used on any course on Maricopia Island, including the beach and reef courses that came before the Lental Seafloor.
