MLB The Show, for many years now, has had a helpful feature that allows you to carry over your Franchise and RTTS save files so that way you could keep your favorite created players and franchise dynasties going from game to game. If you’re here, you’re probably wondering how to, or if you can, transfer your saves to MLB The Show 21. Here’s what you need to know.
Save Transfer in MLB The Show 21 (Franchise & RTTS)
Let’s cut right to the chase and deliver the bad news. San Diego Studio has cut the transfer save feature in MLB The Show 21. You will not be able to carry over your progress from MLB The Show 20 for Franchise and RTTS over to MLB The Show 21. You’ll need to start completely new files this year.
This will no doubt come as a big bummer to players that were hoping to transfer and carry over the saves as they have done for years now. San Diego Studio hasn’t offered an explanation as to why exactly the feature was cut, but cross-generational or cross-platform issues could possibly have something to do with it.
However, while save transfer is gone, you can still upload your games to the cloud in order to upload saves files within MLB The Show 21 from PS4 to PS5 or vice versa. This is done the same way as past years by going to Settings in the game mode you’re currently in, and then choosing Upload to Cloud.
That’s all you need to know about save transfer in MLB The Show 21 (or the lack thereof). Perhaps in future games, this Upload to Cloud feature will be used to also carry over progress to the new game, but for now, we can just hope it will be added again one day.
