The Lantern Rite event is finally live in Genshin Impact, and with it comes a few new activities you can take part in for some sweet rewards. One of the new items introduced in the game is called a Xiao Lantern, and you’ll need quite a few of those to take part in the new Theater Mechanicus event to get those rewards. Getting Xiao Lanterns in Genshin Impact
First off, you’ll need to complete the new story chapter for Xiao, which gets added to your journal automatically as soon as you update the game. After that, you can check the Events panel from the menu to see all that the Lantern Rite has to offer.
By taking part in the Lantern Rite Tales missions and unlocking Theater Mechanicus, you’ll learn the recipe for Xiao Lanterns. Each Lantern requires a Wick Material, Plaustrite Shard, and Lantern Fiber to craft.
The Wick Materials are obtained by defeating enemies, the Plaustrite Shards are obtained by mining minerals, and the Lantern Fibers are obtained by harvesting plants.
You only need one of each, so they should be pretty easy to craft if you keep doing your dailies in Genshin Impact to level up your Battle Pass. Once you have the materials, head over to any alchemy table and you’ll be able to craft them.
How to Use Them
Xiao Lanterns are primarily used to participate in the Theater Mechanicus event, which is a new tower defense mode where you have to build structures to hold off waves of enemies to earn rewards. Each round will cost you one Xiao Lantern, and this is your primary way of earning Peace Talismans, so make sure you have enough Lanterns to keep playing.
As you make your way through the Lantern Rite Tales, some of those mission may occasionally require you to use a Xiao Lantern as well, so try to keep a couple of spares on you just in case.
