Enemies can come at you fast and hard in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game – Complete Edition, and if you don’t have friends along for the ride, it can lead to repeated deaths and frustration. Fortunately, it is possible to counter incoming attacks, but the game can be vague about how to use this mechanic properly. That’s why we’re here to walk you through how to counter in Scott Pilgrim The Game Complete Edition.
Countering in Scott Pilgrim The Game
To start, you won’t be able to counter in Scott Pilgrim The Game Complete Edition right off the bat.
Instead, you’ll unlock the ability to do so after reaching level 4. All you really need to do to reach this level is play through the first level and defeat as many of the enemies that appear as possible, and purchase items from the stores in the shopping district for lump sums of experience.
Once you reach level 4, you’ll be notified that you can now counter incoming attacks by pressing the Circle button on PlayStation 4, the B Button on Xbox One or the B Button on the Nintendo Switch.
When to Counter Enemy Attacks
However, it’s worth noting that timing your counters in Scott Pilgrim The Game Complete Edition can be tricky. You’ll need to press the counter button only once before the incoming attack lands, as opposed to mashing the button. Failing to do so will lead to the counter failing to trigger, and your character suffering damage.
Likewise, you’ll need to make sure the move is executed while you’re fairly close to enemies. While the attack that triggers has a larger range than normal attacks, it won’t hit the enemy that attacked you without fail. Likewise, if the counter attack misses, then you’ll be open to attacks from enemies after you snap out of the animation, leaving you open to further attacks.
Try to trigger your counters while they’re nearby to ensure they suffer the full brunt of the move, and to ensure you don’t suffer damage after the counter animation wears off.
