The first is to get passing marks on exams at the Ounabara Vocational School.
Found in the Northeast portion of the map and made available after progressing to a certain point in the main story, this facility lets you take five-question exams that will boost a certain Personality stat if you pass. The questions pertain to a variety of topics, from general sports knowledge to trivia about the Yakuza series and other Sega franchises.
There are 21 exams in all, and each one can raise your Personality stats by as much as 100 points; which, when all is said and done, can gain you several Personality stat levels.
However, this method can be costly. Each exam is priced at ¥50,000, and there’s no way to get a refund if you fail to get three questions right. As such, you should make sure you have plenty of funds before attempting this method.
Where to Find Personality-Boosting Items
Another method for raising your personality stats fast in Yakuza Like a Dragon is to purchase special items.
When speaking to certain vendors, you’ll have the option to buy items that raise your personality stats. Cheaper items will give your stats a small bump, while more costly items will see your stats grow by leaps and bounds.
Special vendors in particular, like Kan the can collector or the casino prize exchangers, will have stronger items on hand, so go to them should you have enough of the resource they’re looking for.
How to Have Conversations With Your Party in Yakuza Like a Dragon
The final method you can use to raise your personality stats fast in Yakuza Like a Dragon is talking with your party members.
As you build up your bond with your party members, you’ll gain the option to speak with them at the Survive bar to deepen your relationships. Each party member has five opportunities for this, unlocked by raising their Bond level with winning battles, eating out at restaurants they like, and so on.
Once they have a heart icon above their head, you can engage them in conversation and respond to different prompts in a few ways. How you respond will boost one of your personality traits: Being direct can boost your confidence while being empathetic can improve your Kindness level.
The gains from these interactions are minimal though, so you’ll need to combine it with one of the other two methods above if you want to make real progress toward maxing out each category.
