This Team GO Rocket Leader won’t pull any punches in your battle with her. If you’ve already faced her a bunch of times and you still have not been victorious, then you’re in luck. Here’s how to beat Sierra in Pokemon GO.
How to Beat Team GO Rocket Leader Sierra in Pokemon GO
Sierra is one of the most tricky trainers you’ll face in the game. If you get a favorable team to battle, then you can just blast through with Dark-types, but you need some good luck for that to happen. Here are all of Sierra’s possible Pokemon:
- Pokemon 1
- Drowzee (Psychic)
- Pokemon 2
- Exeggutor (Grass/Psychic)
- Lapras (Water/Ice)
- Sharpedo (Water/Dark)
- Pokemon 3
- Alakazam (Psychic)
- Houndoom (Dark/Fire)
- Shiftry (Grass/Dark)
Gone are the days of Sierra having two Lapras. Hypno is a much easier Pokemon to take on since it has no reliable way to take out Dark-type mons. If you want to get fancy, then you can try bugs like Genesect or Escavalier, but Dark and even one Ghost Pokemon will always be better here.
Best Picks: Tyranitar, Hydreigon, Origin Forme Giratina, Darkrai, Mega Houndoom
Battle 2 – Sierra in Pokemon Go
You can keep your Dark-type Pokemon in the battle if Sierra sends out her Exeggutor next. A Fire or Bug mon could also take on Exeggutor, but you should be fine with Hydreigon, Heatran, or Mega Houndoom. Just make sure you always shield if you have Tyranitar in so it doesn’t get hit by Grass-type moves.
Best Picks: Hydreigon, Heatran, Tyranitar, Genesect, Mega Houndoom
Sharpedo is a glass cannon that can quickly KO you if you’re not ready for it. Togekiss or Charm Latias are solid options to hit Sharpedo’s Fairy weakness. Leafeon and Mega Venusaur (even normal) are also solid options that can take down this shark Pokemon quickly.
Best Picks: Togekiss, Leafeon, Mega Venusaur, Latias, Ludicolo
You’re lucky that you don’t have to face Lapras two times in a row anymore. Abomasnow is absolutely the safest choice here since it won’t get hit by super effective damage while dealing super effective damage to Lapras. But in the end, Mega Venusaur will be able to deal the most damage.
Best Picks: Ludicolo, Leafeon, Abomasnow, Mega Venusaur, Venusaur
If you reach Sierra’s Houndoom, then you might be tempted to try something like Machamp or Conkeldurr. However, Water-, Ground-, and Rock-types are going to be the safest options to finish off this Fire/Dark Pokemon.
Best Picks: Landorus, Palkia, Kyogre, Mega Blastoise, Rhyperior
Alakazam is a completely different story since it’s super effective against Fighting-type Pokemon. If you’re extremely lucky, then you won’t need to switch out from the Dark-type mon you used against Exeggutor and Drowzee. Alakazam is fairly frail, so don’t even worry about using any other types.
Best Picks: Tyranitar, Alolan Muk, Darkrai, Mega Houndoom, Hydreigon
Shiftry is so weak to so many different types, it’s not even funny. Grass/Dark is not a forgiving typing and you can take advantage of that with Fairy-, Bug-, Fighting-, Fire-, Flying-, Ice-, or Poison-type Pokemon. Keep Togekiss in if you used it against Sharpedo or switch to Mega Beedrill for massive damage.
Best Picks: Genesect, Mega Beedrill, Togekiss, Heatran, Mega Houndoom
Best Pokemon Team to Beat Sierra in Pokemon Go
The Psychic-, Dark-, and Fairy-types in here certainly mix up your team choices. It also means that if you’re lacking a strong Pokemon of a certain type, then there are at least some other options for your road to victory.
My ideal team for beating Sierra is:
- Tyranitar (Smack Down|Crunch)
- Togekiss (Charm|Dazzling Gleam)
- Mega Venusaur (Razor Leaf|Frenzy Plant)
- Heidreigon (Bite|Flash Cannon)
- Abomasnow (Razor Leaf|Solar Beam)
- Palkia (Dragon Breath|Aqua Tail)
Any other solid Pokemon of the same types should help you to victory in your battle against Sierra. That’s all you need to know about how to beat Team GO Rocket Leader Sierra in Pokemon Go. Now it’s time to take on Arlo and Cliff so you can face Giovanni.
