Once you collect enough Mysterious Components to build the Rocket Radar you’ll be able to track down Team Go Rocket Leaders. They’re tough, but this guide will help you learn how to beat Arlo in Pokemon Go.
How to Beat Team Go Rocket Leader Arlo in Pokemon Go
First, we need to look at what mons Arlo has in his team. The first one is always the same, but opponents two and three can vary considerably. Here are all of Arlo’s possible Pokemon:
- Pokemon 1
- Pineco (Bug)
- Pokemon 2
- Charizard (Fire/Flying)
- Steelix (Steel/Ground)
- Blastoise (Water)
- Pokemon 3
- Scizor (Bug/Steel)
- Salamence (Dragon/Flying)
- Dragonite (Dragon/Flying)
Woof, Arlo’s first Pokemon used to be much scarier (Mawile). Now he starts out with the less intimidating Pineco. Not only are Bug-types awful in Pokemon GO, but Pineco is hardly the best of them. Rocks or Fire will take care of Arlo’s first mon.
Best Picks: Heatran, Reshiram, Rhyperior, Entei, Terrakion
If you get lucky, then you’ll face Steelix. You can just keep your Fire-type Pokemon in until it faints or KOs Steelix. If you need to switch, then go with a Water-, Fire-, or Ground-type Pokemon. Don’t overthink it, and remember to save a charge move going into the final matchup if you can.
Best Picks: Swampert, Reshiram, Rhyperior, Groudon, Excadrill
He might as well be the second Pokemon mascot after Pikachu at this point. Everyone knows Charizard and everyone knows how to KO it. Toss some Rock Pokemon out there, tap away, then watch Charizard drop like a fly.
Best Picks: Golem (Alolan or Standard), Regirock, Tyranitar, Rhyperior, Omastar
Arlo’s Blastoise is a powerful opponent and a solid Pokemon in general. You’re going to need a strong Grass-type in order to knock out this starter from the land of Kanto. Maybe even another starter from Kanto will be your best option for taking out Blastoise.
Best Picks: Roserade, Ludicolo, Venusaur, Leafeon, Meganium
If you saved up that charged Fire-type attack, then Scizor can easily be taken out by a single attack. If you didn’t have a Fire-type Pokemon in before, then you’ll want to switch to one as soon as you see Scizor. Any Fire Pokemon will make short work of this Steel/Bug mon.
Best Picks: Reshiram, Heatran, Entei, Darmanitan, Blaziken
Your best picks for both of these matchups will be exactly the same, so we might as well bunch them together. Both of these very strong Pokemon get absolutely embarrassed by Fairies and Ice mons.
Best Picks: Togekiss, Gardevoir, Regice, Clefable, Suicune
Best Pokemon Team to Beat Arlo
Ice hits Salamence and Dragonite hard, but if you run into Blastoise, then you’ll want to have a powerful Grass-type on your side.
My ideal team for beating Arlo is:
- Rhyperior (Smack Down|Rock Wrecker)
- Darmanitan (Fire Fang|Overheat)
- Ludicolo (Razor Leaf|Energy Ball)
- Reshiram (Fire Fang|Overheat)
- Venusaur (Razor Leaf|Frenzy Plant)
- Suicune (Ice Fang|Ice Beam)
If you don’t have these Pokemon, then any combination of other strong Rock-, Fairy-, Ice-, Electric-, and Fire-types that I mentioned may do the trick.
