Dodging & Evading in The Last of Us 2

To dodge and evade incoming attacks, all you need to do is press L1. This will cause Ellie to quickly recoil back. If you’re moving the left analog stick to the left or right as you press L1, Ellie will dodge in that direction.

This can be really handy for any close encounters you find yourself in with the Infected. If these horrifying creatures get their hands on you, you’re looking at an instant death.

As such, using the dodge at the right time and dodging in the right direction with the left analog stick can literally be the difference between life and death. Be sure to make the most of it.

Can You Upgrade the Dodge Ability?

No, there are no upgrades you can purchase to upgrade your dodge in The Last of Us 2. You’ll have to get to grips with this ability as it is at the beginning of the game and use it the whole way through.
