Using the Ki Pulse in Nioh 2

If you take a look at the top left corner of your screen, you’ll see your character’s health bar, along with the Ki bar right below that. Each time you take an action like attack, dash, or sidestep, your Ki bar will decrease a little, and you’ll need to wait for it to refill again. If you let the bar drain completely, your character will take a few seconds to recover, leaving them completely vulnerable to enemy attacks.

To make the most out of your stamina bar, you’ll want to learn how to Ki Pulse. What this mechanic does is that it allows you to instantly regain some Ki if you press a button at the right time.

As your Ki bar drains while you’re taking actions, keep an eye on the bar itself and watch for when it flashes white. This will only happen for a second, but if you press the R1 button right when it flashes white, you’ll instantly regain a portion of your Ki, allowing you to continue attacking.

Using the Ki Pulse isn’t just useful for restoring stamina in Nioh 2; it also allows to clear away the yokai-infected areas in the game. For instance, some enemies can generate a black and white field around them to restore their own stamina, and if you stand in it, your Ki regeneration rate slows to a crawl. However, if you use a Ki Pulse while standing in there, you can dispel the area.

To recap, here’s how to use a Ki Pulse in Nioh 2:

  1. While attacking, keep an eye on your Ki bar.

  2. When the bar flashes white for just a second, hit the R1 button to restore a portion of your stamina.
