The sequel to id Software’s Doom reboot is finally out now. As you’d expect from a sequel, it’s bigger, better, and more brutal than before. With all the skills and weapons you unlock as you play, it would be nice to go back through the levels now that you’re stronger. So that you know what’s there for you after the campaign is done, here’s everything you need to know about whether there is new game plus in Doom Eternal.
New game plus would allow you to start the story all over again, taking everything you learned with you to tackle a slightly tougher campaign.
Is There New Game Plus in Doom Eternal?
In short, no, there’s no official New Game Plus in the game. That being said, there are plenty of options for things to do once you’ve finished your first playthrough.
First of all, you can use Mission Select to go back to levels and find all the collectibles you missed the first time. The level will be as it was when you first played, but you’ll have all the skills and weapons you’ve found, provided you’re playing on the same save file.
You’ll also be able to go back to all the Slayer Gates you didn’t attempt the first time, testing your skills now that you’re more experienced with all of Doom Eternal’s weapons.
Also, instead of a new game plus, you can play the campaign on different difficulties. For example, Ultra-Nightmare turns up the difficulty and gives you just one life for the whole game. How you’re supposed to do that, I don’t know, but it’s there for you to attempt if you fancy it.
Finally, Master Levels, which are tricky versions of existing missions, will be added to the game over time once the game releases.
