Difficulty can be a real pain in the ass if you’re enjoying a game but just can’t get past some pesky boss stage or battle. That’s why being able to change it whenever you want is such a handy option to have at your disposal. Here’s how to change difficulty in Tokyo Mirage Sessions Encore.
First, it’s important to point out what changing the difficulty in the game actually does. Simply put, it’ll make all of the combat sections (turn-based battles) much easier. Your opponent might not use moves or combinations of attacks that would be incredibly effective on your team at lower difficulty levels, and use them more frequently at higher difficulties.

You can change difficulty settings at any time by pressing Y to bring up the menu. From here, select the ‘System’ option and go to ‘Difficulty.’ You can now use the d-pad to switch between Easy, Normal, and Hard.
As we noted above, switching between these will make the combat sections harder or easier, but the rest of the gameplay, from what we can gather will remain the same.
There are no special unlockables for beating the game on a certain difficulty, either, so you may as well pick the one that enables you to enjoy the game, while still offering a bit of a challenge.
