Fortnite’s Winterfest event might be just around the corner, but we’re already right in the middle of the Fortnite Star Wars crossover event. As part of this, Epic Games has added in a bunch of new challenges based around Star Wars and the new gameplay features added in for the event. This includes using a lightsaber, but they’re not just given to everyone. Here’s how to get lightsabers in Fortnite.
Getting Lightsabers in Fortnite
As we mentioned above, this isn’t just a case of jumping out of the Battle Bus and just having a lightsaber immediately. Instead, you’ll need to find one.
Lightsabers can be found by looking out for blue Star Wars chests. These are unique to the event and haven’t been seen in Fortnite before. Here’s a photo so you know what you’re looking for:
Inside one of these special Star Wars chests in Fortnite, you’ll actually find four lightsabers. Each one is a different color and their names refer to the character in Star Wars that wields it.
For example, Kylo Ren’s red, sword-like lightsaber is here, as is Mace Windu’s purple one.
We’ve put together the locations we’ve found these Fortnite lightsaber chests down below so you can check them out for yourself. The Frenzy Farm location was in the main house, where we grabbed the screenshot for above.

Using a Lightsaber in Fortnite
Now that you’ve got a lightsaber, to complete the Star Wars challenges, you’ll need to both deal and block damage with the lightsaber.
To block incoming damage, simply press and hold down your ‘aim down sights’ button. On Xbox One that’s LT, PS4 is L2, Switch is ZL, PC is RMB.
To attack with your lightsaber to deal damage, you’ll need to get up close to your target and press and hold your fire/ attack button. This is RT/ R2/ ZR/ LMB.
That’s everything you need to know on how to get lightsabers in Fortnite. For more tips, tricks, and guides, be sure to check out our ever-expanding Chapter 2 Season 1 guide wiki.
