Pokemon Sword & Shield: How to Get Each Toxtricity Form

If you’re on a quest to catch every Pokemon in the newly released Pokemon Sword and Shield, you need to know that there is a new Pokemon called Toxtricity that has two forms. They have the same Pokedex number, but they are different colors and learn different moves, so if you’re a big collector you’ll probably want both. Here’s how to get each Toxtricity form.

How to Get Each Toxtricity Form in Pokemon Sword & Shield

Toxtricity, the Electric- and Poison-type Pokemon from the Galar region, is the evolved form of Toxel, so you’ll want to start by obtaining a Toxel.

The easiest way to get a Toxel is to visit the daycare on Route 5 (to the east of the town of Turffield). The woman standing inside on the right will give you one for free.

Toxel can also be found in the Wild Area in both the overworld and in Max Raids. Because it has an Electric/Poison typing, it has a higher likelihood of appearing during thunderstorms.

Difference Between Each Form

Once you have a Toxel, you’ll want to make a note of its Nature. This can be found on the Pokemon’s summary page. At level 30, Toxel will evolve into a different Toxtricity form depending on its Nature.

If Toxel’s Nature is Hardy, Brave, Adamant, Naughty, Docile, Impish, Lax, Hasty, Jolly, Naive, Rash, Sassy, or Quirky, it will evolve into the Amped form of Toxtricity.

Amped form Toxtricity has a yellow color, and it will eventually learn a special Steel-type attack called Shift Gear.

If Toxel’s Nature is Lonely, Bold, Relaxed, Timid, Serious, Modest, Mild, Quiet, Bashful, Calm, Gentle, or Careful, it will evolve into the Low Key form of Toxtricity.

Low Key form Toxtricity has a blue color, and it will eventually learn a special Electric-type attack called Magnetic Flux.

Unfortunately, you can’t use a Nature Mint to change what Toxel evolves into, because it will evolve into whatever Nature is displayed on its summary page (Nature Mints only change the stats, not the Nature itself).

You can also find both Toxtricity forms in Max Raid battles if you don’t want to evolve a Toxel.

To recap, here’s how to get each Toxtricity form in Pokemon Sword and Shield:

Time needed: 1 hour

  1. Obtain a Toxel from the daycare on Route 5 or from the Wild Area.

  2. Level up the Toxel to level 30.

  3. Depending on its Nature, it will evolve into one of two Toxtricity forms.

  4. Obtain a second Toxel with a Nature from the opposite group to get the second Toxtricity form.
