As you’d expect from a Need for Speed game, Heat is an open world title that sees you roam the streets in search of races and story missions to take on.
You don’t search from a lobby or a menu, you simply drive to the location of an event and start it from there. Therefore, it’s important that you don’t waste you time by not saving properly.
How to Save Your Game in Need for Speed Heat
Thankfully, the game saves automatically pretty regularly. In the bottom right corner of the screen, you should see a little circle appear with the NFS logo inside it.
Once that has disappeared, your progress should have saved and you’ll be safe to quit the game. The next time you start the game up, you won’t be in the same place on the map, being at the main Garage instead, but any race and challenges progress will have been saved.
The autosave feature will kick into action whenever you finish an event, complete a challenge, or go to a safe house/garage. You’ll always start from the main garage, but it is easy to prompt a save if you’re looking to quit soon. You can easily fast travel from the map to any safe house.
It’s also worth noting that there is no manual save option in the game. If you’re desperate, just fast travel somewhere to prompt one.
The game will autosave regularly and is shown by a NFS symbol in the bottom right of the screen.
