Outer Worlds: What the Preload & Unlock Times Are

What the Preload and Unlock Times Are for Outer Worlds

As it stands, every platform that Outer Worlds is planned for release on will allow you to preload the game. However, each platform has a slightly different window for when you can initiate the preload.

For example, the Xbox One and PC versions of the title are currently available for preload through the game’s page on the official Microsoft Store page.

Do note that this only applies to those who have already pre-ordered the game, and that you’ll need to be signed into your account to carry out the download.

However, if you’re a Games Pass subscriber, you should be able to preload the game so long as you’re signed into your account.

PlayStation 4 owners, meanwhile, will need to wait a bit longer to preload the game, with a tentative date of Oct. 23 standing as the time when those who have pre-ordered the title can download it to their consoles.

How Big Is the Preload of the Game?

Fortunately, this is where the differences between Outer Worlds’ preloads ends.

Every version of the game will have an unlock time of midnight in whichever region you’re in.

Likewise, every version will require around 37 GB, give or take a gigabyte based on platform. This number may likewise change based on whether the day one patch downloads alongside the unlock, though that increase in size should carry across every platform.

And that’s really all there is to what the preload and unlock times are for Outer Worlds. From here, you should be all set to dive into its satirical sci-fi action to your heart’s content, losing yourself in the latest offering from Obsidian Games.

Outer Worlds is set for release on Oct. 25. For more on the game, check out our guides on whether there are romance options and whether it’s PS4 Pro and Xbox One X enhanced. We’ll also have a wiki guide on the game once it releases.
