Actually getting the Essence of Rage is the tricky part, as it seems to have one of the lowest drop rates when compared to the rest of the Essence items in the game. At the time of writing, it looks like the Essence of Rage has the best chance of dropping if you’re farming Nightmare Hunts.
After completing the main story campaign in Shadowkeep, you’ll be able to take on the Nightmare Hunts at Adept difficulty for extra rewards. You’ll also have a chance of obtaining the Essence of Rage for completing these, so it simply becomes a matter of farming Nightmare Hunts and getting lucky enough to get it to drop.
Once you have the Essence of Rage, all you have to do is fulfill the requirements to get the One Small Step Shotgun.

- 120 Super kills
- Obtain the Fangs of Shun’Gath
The Fangs of Shun’Gath can be obtained in the World’s Grave area in the Moon. Once you’ve fulfilled all the requirements, bring it back to the Lectern of Enchantment to receive your Shotgun as a reward.
