Getting the Essence of Pride Quest
As we noted above, you’ll first need to unlock the Lectern of Enchantment by progressing through Shadowkeep’s story missions. After unlocking it, you’ll then need to get yourself a Phantasmal Core if you’re going to take on the Essence of Pride quest, or any of the other ‘Essence of’ quests for the matter.
Phantasmal Cores can be earned by completing weekly bounties from the Lectern or exchanging Phantasmal Fragments for Cores. It’s also been suggested that handing over Small Rice Cakes to Jade Rabbits can occasionally cause them to drop a Phantasmal Core, rather than a Fragment.
Once you’ve got this Core, simply claim the ‘Essence of Pride’ quest from the Lectern and you’ll be able to start working towards it.
Defeating Nightmares in Destiny 2 Shadowkeep
The ‘Essence of Pride’ quest requires players to defeat Nightmares across the galaxy. Any Nightmares you defeat across the EDZ, Titan, Nessus, and Io will count towards your progress for this quest, but keep in mind that any Nightmares you defeat on the Moon won’t net you any progress at all.
The best place to go to defeat Nightmares in Destiny 2 Shadowkeep is to make your way to the Lost Sectors on the planets listed above.
Our personal favorite was the Widow’s Walk Lost Sector on the EDZ. To find this, land in the Trostlands and make your way to the back left section of this area.
Here, you’ll find a few Nightmares-type enemies to take down, and when you engage them in combat, they’ll spawn a good few more. This can easily net you 30% of the Nightmares required to beat the Essence of Pride quest in Destiny 2 Shadowkeep.
Once you’ve cleared them, head out of the Lost Sector and jump back in to easily farm it and complete the Essence of Pride quest.
