How to Get Dark Detectors & What They Do in Harry Potter Wizards Unite

So, Dark Detectors work similarly to how lures worked in Pokemon GO as they are used to locate hard-to-find Traces. Once you place a Dark Detector at a  specified location (which are called Inns), you will soon begin to see rare Traces that normally would not appear around the Inn.

You can even activate multiple Dark Detectors to reveal higher-severity Traces. Using three of them together with fellow players may even reveal Severe and Emergency level Foundables.

Getting Dark Detectors

You will be given a one-time use Detector once you start the game but after that, you’re going to have to pay 120 Gringotts to unlock another one from the in-game store. You can get to the store by clicking on the briefcase icon and then pressing the shopping cart icon on the top right section of your screen.

How to Use Them

Once you are in possession of a Dark Detector, you can place them on any Inn by clicking on the Dark Detector section as you can see in the image above. It’s actually pretty simple but if you already spent your first one and you’re low on Gringotts coins, you’re out of luck.

Don’t worry though, you can easily get more money by defeating Confoundables and returning Foundables.

That’s all you need to know about how to get Dark Detectors and what they do in Harry Potter Wizards Unite. For more info on the game, please be sure to check out our ever-expanding wiki guide. Here are a few guides to get you started:
