How to Drain the Blood Fountain in Bloodstained Ritual of the Night

Getting the Blood Steal Shard

At the beginning of the game, when you first enter the castle, you’ll come across this ominous-looking blood fountain. If you look closer at your mini-map, you’ll see that there’s an opening in the ground that you might be able to slip through.

However, you can’t actually do that at this point in the game. You’ll need to use the Blood Steal Shard.

Getting this Shard requires you to progress through the game quite significantly. Without diving into too many spoilers, you’ll need to clear the Garden of Silence, Towers of Twin Dragons, and the Bridge of Evil area in order to get an ability that lets you progress higher up the Dian Cecht Cathedral.

This will allow you to face the Bloodless boss, who then gives you the Blood Steal Shard upon defeat.

Draining the Blood Fountain

Now that you have the Shard, be sure to equip it from your menu, then head back to the blood fountain.

Stand in the middle of the fountain and press the triangle button (or Y on Xbox One, and X on Switch) to use the ability. This will trigger a short scene showing Miriam draining all the blood. Now, you’ll be able to go through the opening in the ground, and access a new area of the Forbidden Underground Passageway to continue the story progress.

That’s all you need to know about how to drain the blood fountain in Bloodstained Ritual of the Night. Be sure to search for Twinfinite for more tips and information on the game.
