What We Know So Far About the FIFA 19 Team of the Season Start Date
Team of the Season is the biggest promo in FIFA every year and it’s often the best period in the game’s yearly cycle. We’re approaching the end of the European domestic season so here is everything we know so far about what the Team of the Season start date is in FIFA 19.
Previous Years and International Football
More than any previous year, the start date for Team of the Season is harder to predict this year. In FIFA 18, it began earlier than ever due to the World Cup that happened when the promo would usually run.
While there is no World Cup this year, there are a few reasons why it could start at a similar time in FIFA 19, though.
First of all, Festival of FUT, which ran after Team of the Season, was hugely popular last year, so EA Sports are likely to run something similar to replicate that success. Secondly, there is still international football happening this summer, it’s just not as big as the World Cup.
If EA Sports want to make the most of that period, TOTS’s start time in FIFA 19 would need to be earlier once more. To get the whole promo out of the way before the internationals begin, it would need to start around the middle of April, with Most Consistent releasing on either April 19 or April 26, if the same structure is followed.
FIFA 19 Champions League Rights
Beyond EA Sports not taking advantage of the summer football this year, the recently acquired Champions League rights is the only thing that could lead to a later start date for Team of the Season in FIFA 19.
In FIFA 18, there was no standard Team of the Tournament released due to how early TOTS was, but EA Sports will likely want to make a big deal of the tournament’s final stages, especially considered how they’ve pushed it so far this year will fortnightly content based on it, and multiple live card releases.
If they delay Team of the Season in FIFA 19 to focus on the Champions League’s conclusion in April, we’ll likely see the big promo begin on May 3 or May 10. It’s very unlikely that it’ll begin any later than that.
Predicted Team of the Season Start Date
Therefore, TOTS will likely begin in FIFA 19 sometime between April 19 and May 10, on one of the four Fridays that run between those dates. If there’s Champions League content released, it’ll be towards the end of that period, if not, expect it before the end of April.
