What Days Gone’s Preload & Unlock Times Are

Recommended Videos

Days Gone is the latest PS4 exclusive, this time coming courtesy of the team over at Sony Bend studio. Telling the story of former outlaw biker Deacon St. John, players will assume the role of this bounty hunter as they try to survive an open world teeming with zombie-like creatures known as Freakers. If you can’t wait to hop into the action, you might be wondering what Days Gone‘s preload and unlock times are.

What Is Preload & How Can You Do It?

Preloading games is something that only players who preorder a game digitally through an online store, such as the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, or Steam, can take advantage of. It enables players to download the game’s entire installation files, so as soon as the game’s release date rolls around, players can get straight into the action without having to worry about updates or lengthy downloads.

What Days Gone Preload Times Are

Currently, the Days Gone preload time is set for April 23. This would fall in line with previous preload situations for titles on the PlayStation Store, which have gone up three days prior to the game’s official release date.

As such, it’s highly like that if you’ve preordered Days Gone digitally on the PlayStation Store prior to this date, you’ll have a full three days to download its entire install.

If this happens to be incorrect or is changed closer to Days Gone’s official release, we’ll update this post and let you know the new, correct information.

What Days Gone’s Install Size Is

The reason you’ll probably want to take advantage of preloading Days Gone is due to the fairly hefty file size. Days Gone’s install size weighs in at 59.84GB which, depending on your internet connection speed could take some serious time to download. Fortunately, those three days of preload should be enough to get most, if not all of it done on most connections.

What Days Gone’s Unlock Times Are

Once Days Gone is all preloaded and completely installed on your PS4, you still won’t be able to play it right away. You’ll then need to wait until Days Gone is officially unlocked and ready to play. This will occur on April 26, when Days Gone is officially released.

The unlock time for Days Gone will depend on where you’re living, but essentially, it’ll always unlock as soon as the clock strikes midnight on April 26 in your region. For example, if you live in Europe, the game will unlock at midnight CET, whereas those on the east coast of the United States will have their game unlock at midnight ET.

That’s everything you need to know about what Days Gone’s preload and unlock times are. For more tips, tricks, and guides, be sure to check out our ever-expanding Days Gone guide wiki.
